You have to run the Spine Editor version the assets have been exported with, so Spine Editor version 3.2.x. You then have to use the "Import data" menu entry to load the skeleton.
You then have to save the Spine project and open it in a newer Spine Editor version (3.8 for example) and export again. Only this way can you use the export with the Spine Webplayer.
Note that you might have to fix some things in the Spine project as there have been a lot of changes between Spine 3.2 and Spine 3.8.
