  • will there ever be Godot support

  • Bearbeitet

i bought the Professional edition and am wondering if i start a new projekt in gamemaker or in godot.
i like godot more, and i know godot has some good ways to use its own spine technik too, but i didnt buy spine pro just to use another programm.

i would stay on gamemaker for my nex project if there will not be a godot support in next time.

We plan on supporting Godot, but are currently wound up in a lot of other work. It will likely happen in Q3 2019, but I can't 100% promise that.

I would like to see it as well. Currently using trial version to test stuffs out. I mainly using godot engine and animate there. But planning to buy spine so I can just animate once and used it in multiple game engines easily.

In search of the Spine roadmap I got to this forum... after seeing Esotericsoftware comment under this yt:

They’re kind of telling that Godot support comes with 4.1... but when that would be, who knows?

It was now 2 Years ago, since you wanted to start. When you'll deliver professional support for more Engines?

Godot Engine gets more and more important, and other Animation-Tools already have Godot-Support.
4.0 will be released soon, and you shouldn't miss the boat. We want to be able to use the best 2D animation tool with the best 2D engine.

Also many non-professional devs integrated the runtime in some versions of Godot, but its .. tricky.

It would be fantastic if you could build a professional Godot module, maybe also under open source, so that the community can bring in its own improvements. First and foremost, we absolutely need a way to connect Spine and Godot 4.0, up-to-date and stable. :fiesta:

I join in with all of the above ...
We need this.
Let this post be a petition ... maybe then something will change ...

I've started woeking on this: https://github.com/EsotericSoftware/spine-runtimes/tree/spine-godot

It's based on rayxuln's runtime, who generously allows us to integrate it in our runtimes repository. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and changing some things. You can already play around with it, but note that it is not final!

hi,will this runtime support display in 3d mode of godot?
Many games use 2d animation in 3d space, just like dont starve.

That should work just fine. What may be more complex is applying lighting and other 3D things to it. Haven't gotten that far yet. I'll first focus on making the 2D nice.
