I recently started getting the following crash upon assigning a skeleton to the Spine Animation Component in UE4. This same project has been working for a couple of weeks.
A couple of the things I've done to troubleshoot:
1) remove all of the animations and re-export
2) export and then import into Spine itself to see if there appears to be a problem with the file itself
3) Moved from 3.6 to 3.7 beta
None of these things help. Is there a direction you can point me in?

Went ahead and tried to do the same thing with a binary export and got the following error upon assigning the skeleton in the blueprint:

We figured out what causes this crash. We had an image that accidentally had a space at the end of the file name. So:
"left hand cliff grab .png" instead of "left hand cliff grab.png"
After fixing that the crash went away.
